An Afrobeat Musical Film

The Book of Nehemiah

When bandits, embezzled salaries, compromised courts, and the exodus of its sharpest minds push a nation to the brink, a group of African scientists and professionals — at home and in the diaspora — decide that time is up. Narrated through thirteen original Afrobeat songs, this is a musical about rebuilding Africa.

The story

A nation may have broken walls. It cannot afford for its people to lose hope.

A bandit attack opens the wounds again. Government officials reject innovative technology for self-interest, workers go unpaid, courts compromise, and a good man dies in a hospital that could have saved him — while the doctor who could have helped watches on his phone from overseas. Corruption reaches even the altar.

Then the tide turns: diaspora scientists and professionals organise, and a laboratory known as GAI LABS begins building solutions with state-of-the-art technology. The power brokers unravel; the women — mothers, daughters, wives — fervently stand in the gap. The overpowered leaders surrender, and a new breed of young, disciplined leaders triumphs — a generation that walks with lions.

II · The Blueprint

The wall is a timeline.

Scroll the stave. Each beat replaces a symbol of insecurity with a symbol of scientific infrastructure — the modern translation of a wall being rebuilt, measure by measure.

01 · Insecurity

The Walls Fall

Bandits open the wound. Officials trade ideas for self-interest, workers go unpaid, and the old guardrails collapse into rubble. A diasporan watches the news from abroad and feels the bassline of a broken home.

02 · Exodus

The Best Minds Leave

Courts bend and a good man dies in a hospital that could have saved him, while the doctor who might have helped watches from a phone abroad. Suitcases, bus stations, the airport line: the mass exodus begins.

03 · Assembly

The Scientists Convene

In the diaspora and at home, engineers, data scientists and doctors awaken and organise around GAI LABS. They table the dilapidation like a problem set and build the Public Accountability Portal — a window into where public money goes.

04 · Intercession

The Women Stand in the Gap

Kingmakers begin to unravel. Mothers, daughters and wives intercede where the men in power fail — they organise, they refuse to let the story end badly. Their chapter is the turning point.

05 · Exodus Reversed

The People Walk Out

The failed powers surrender. The exodus inverts: those who left come home to a wall that holds, and a people walk out with the lions. The musical closes not on a king, but on the builders themselves.
